明朝中期，民以食为天。各地的厨神争霸赛如期举行。广东省的名厨范成舟正与他的对手进行着激烈的比赛。这场比赛范乘舟的菜品更胜一筹再次获得冠军。喜好招摇的他在赴京报到前被一伙山贼劫持了。山贼的头领不是恶霸也不是杀人魔头，而是一名想要开饭店的女帮主。吃过范乘舟做的菜总是让人异想天开。女帮主彭小仙也不例外，就把他关了起来。一心想要下山的范乘舟答应教彭小仙做菜，好趁机逃跑。可时间久了，两人产生了感情。加上二当家的篡位之心被范乘舟发现，也只好想别的办法离开山寨。眼看赴京报到日期就要到了。范乘舟以带着彭小仙下山为由赶往京城。可京城里已经有一名“范乘舟”报到，为了验明正身范乘舟想出了皇宫前的对决来证明自己。在彭小仙和山寨里的朋友们的帮助，一场美食的碰撞就此展开。自信的范乘舟凭借自己独特的技艺，赢得了比赛。
